"Waiting on the world to change"

Yesterday, as I sat at my computer and proofed the images from this weekend's maternity session, I was listening to John Mayer's "Waiting on the World to Change." The title struck me as incredibly appropriate, given the nature of a maternity shoot - anticipation of a life changing event. This couple was so much fun and they are so excited to welcome a new little boy next year. I had a fabulous time with our "urban maternity" session and hope you love them too.

The beautiful mama.

A quiet moment and the pretty evening sunlight.

One last sneak peek of the fun couple.

Congratulations to you both. I can't wait to meet the little guy.

A Sunday afternoon in the desert

The weather this time of year is the reason we all suffer through the 110+ degree temps in the summer. And when it comes time to take family holiday photos, shooting outside is such a luxury, compared to the rest of the country. So I love that this entire family wore flip-flops for their Sunday afternoon photo shoot. The rest of the country can eat their hearts out, while looking at this sneak peek.

How cool are they?

One good looking family!

Boys just wanna have fun!

The Mesa Arts Center is a great place to take photos. (As evidenced by the numerous photogs seen there every weekend...) However, it is ALSO a great place to run around and explore if you are almost 2 and 4. Oh, well! I think it made for some VERY cute real-life photos of this family. They make me smile.

**We also had a short 4-year old photo shoot since this guy just had a birthday. Isn't he a handsome kiddo?!**

(red) in the desert

'Tis the season for family photos. Literally. Meet my brother-in-law, sister-in-law and my nephew. It was a great day to take their first official family photo and look how well my favorite prop worked with their ensembles! I love it. And I love that my nephew is an activist at the ripe old age of 3 months. Keep up the good work, buddy!

Coming soon...

I had the privilege of shooting Tracey and David's wedding this weekend. I have lots and lots to photos to edit, but I want everyone to be on the lookout for them. I will post a proper sneak peek when I have a good selection of shots to share. Be sure to check back soon...

Holiday Photos v 2.0

Yesterday I had a great time at the holiday photo shoot for this adorable little one. I was thrilled to get to take her photos again this year, and it has been fun comparing this batch to what we captured last year. She has grown so much, yet is still as cute as ever! She certainly was "on the go" and chatty, but that makes it even more fun.

Here is your sneak peek. Hope this tides you over while I get the rest ready for viewing. ..

Hiatus is over with a fun family shoot

I have been on a bit of a break, but no more! We are heading into the holiday season and I was lucky to get to kick it off with a shoot with this adorable family.

The youngest member of the fam is this 17 month-old cutie. Don't you just love his big eyes?

And then there is the older sis...she is a total sweetheart with the perfect amount of spunk.

Thanks so much for allowing me to take your family photos. It is a real privilege. I have to end with this "typical" shot. It might not be "perfect" but when is life? This is so REAL. I am envisioning it on the back of a Christmas card...can't you just imagine how perfect that would be??

9 Month Family Tradition

We had a 3rd generation tradition in the works Saturday during our photo shoot; a 9month portrait was the goal. I think we were able to get a few contenders for the family photo wall. (As well as a couple great shots with Mom.)

Silas was so sweet and had me cracking up. The number of different expressions he gave me were a riot. (I think he thought the lady behind the camera was crazy.) He is such an adorable little guy! Thanks for letting me take his photo. :) Here is a peek at a few, while I continue working on the rest.

Family Fun!

2 grandparents + 2 sisters + 2 husbands + 3 cousins = FUN! (minus the humidity we had to deal with, but who's counting, right? ;-)) I was so pleased to get to capture such a wonderful family. You never know how a large group with young kids is going to go, but this shoot was definitely a success. I still have tons of photos to get through, but I don't want to keep this family waiting any longer for a little sneak peek. I hope this satisfies the curiosity.

The Family of Four

The weekend started off well with a successful family photo shoot. The great location and the much appreciated cloud cover were added bonuses. I think they are a lovely family and the newest addition is such a cutie! Here is a preview of what we got. Enjoy!

The new kid on the block

Joshua is 3 weeks old -- and such a cutie. He was a very willing subject for his first photo shoot. Got some open eyed shots and then he promptly went to sleep. What a good boy! His parents are so lucky. :)
